The traditional course map gives you a nice overview of the race route from the sky. While this works fine, we often get questions about the course that can’t be answered by simply looking at the map. Is that section of the course on pavement, or gravel, or grass? Just how bad is that hill? Thanks to the wonders of modern technology, you can tour the course before you step out of the door!
The course preview will show mile marks, highlight special course features to take note of, and show you the lay of the land. You’ve trained hard to prepare yourself for a race, and the course preview can give you the last bit of confidence you need to plan your strategy and prepare mentally. We are still perfecting the presentation and will continue to add features based on your feedback. Take a look at the video above (we know it’s a little long – we’re working on it!) and share your thoughts!

The Harford County Sheriff’s Office Explorer Post 6600 will be hosting a basket bingo fundraiser on Friday November 9, 2012 at the Fallston Fire Hall. As a self funded program, the Explorers work throughout the year at different details and events to raise money through donations in order to keep the program running. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to purchase new uniforms and equipment for the expanding Explorer Post.
Explorers provide a valuable resource for the community, and have volunteered at Elite Race Management events in the past as traffic control and safety personnel out on the course. Lets help those who have helped us! Tickets are $12 in advance, or $15 at the door. Seating is limited, so don’t delay! If you have any questions, please contact DFC Matt McGuirk at 443-876-1062, or mcguirkm@harfordsheriff.org.

Thank you very much for your interest in the 2012 Fallston Duathlon and supporting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. We were recently notified that local law enforcement in Harford County, MD would be unable to support the bike portion of the race due to a shortage in staff. Police participation was crucial to ensure safe road closures, and without their support, we would not be able to obtain approval from Harford County or the State Highway Administration to use the roads. While we were upset to hear this news, we attempted to keep the race alive by relocating it to Aberdeen Proving Ground. Sadly, we just got the news that the proving ground would not be able to support this year’s race either.
As with every event we host, we aim to provide a safe and enjoyable racing experience for all participants. Rather than continue to search for a suitable venue in the next month and throw together a race, we’ve decided to cancel this year’s race and focus our efforts on building a great race in 2013. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, and hope that you’ll join us at one of our other events this year. If you have any questions at all please do not hesitate to e-mail Will at will@eliteracemanagement.com and he’ll get right back to you. Hope to see you soon!

After successfully timing over 7,000 muddy zombie-crazed finishers at the Run For Your Lives debut in Baltimore, Elite Race Management has been contracted to provide timing and finish line services for all Run For Your Lives events in 2012. The popular race series, which garnered nationwide attention this past fall, has expanded to locations across the country including San Diego, Austin, Seattle, and Boston.
Runners are given a set of flag football style flags and must navigate a series of obstacles throughout a 5K course in an attempt to reach the finish line — all while avoiding zombies. At the end of this adventure race you get to celebrate survival (or zombie transformation if all of your flags have been pulled) with live entertainment and music, local celebrities, vendors, food, and of course, beer!
More information and entry details can be found on the Run For Your Lives website.
Over 120 runners toed the start line this past Sunday for the 2nd Annual Honeygo Family 5k at Honeygo Run Regional Park. Local Brick Bodies Personal Trainer, Taryne Davila got the day started with an energetic group warmup at the finish line before Baltimore County Police started the race with a siren blast.
Alex Loper returned to successfully defend his 2010 win with a 17:18 effort, and Elizabeth Lelonek took top honors for the women in 22:07. After the 5k wrapped up, it was time for the kids to hit the trail for the 1 mile fun run. 11 year old Connor Chemelli completed the hilly course in 6:15 to lead the pack. Thanks to Chick-fil-A of Nottingham Square, all participants were treated to chicken nuggets after they finished.

The event raised $400 for Baltimore County Police Explorer Post #9909 in White Marsh, and was a huge success. We look forward to growing the event in 2012 and raising even more for local causes. Thank you to everyone who came out on Sunday; we hope you had a great time!
On September 6, The Oliver Beach Community of Chase, MD was the gracious recipient of 24 brand new bicycle helmets valued at over $500 in connection with the second annual Hammer Man Triathlon. The helmets were donated by Elite Race Management in partnership with Trek and The Bicycle Connection as a thank you to the community for their support of the race, and to fulfill a need that was expressed when ERM and community leaders met earlier in the summer. Several different styles of helmets were donated in an effort to raise bicycle safety awareness and encourage the use of this critical piece of equipment.

Elite Race Management has been named the official timing partner of the 2011 ‘Run for your Lives’ Zombie Obstacle 5k race on October 22, 2011. The race features waves of runners who have survived the zombie apocalypse, only to face a series of obstacles and swarms of undead ghouls trying to keep them from escaping. Runners will begin with flag football style flag attached to them, and must complete the course with at least one flag remaining to be eligible for prizes. With a cap of 11,500 participants, the event will begin at 9:00 AM and continue throughout the day, ending with the apocalypse party and overnight camp.
For more information on the race, visit the official website at RunForYourLives.com. We hope to see you out there!
